Vote ‘Yes’ in November to Stop U.S. Weapons for Israel
The U.S. has sent over $20 billion in weapons to Israel this year—funded by our taxes. These weapons fuel Israel’s war crimes.
This November, Urbana has the chance to stand against this violence. A referendum on the ballot will let us say no to sending more U.S. weapons to Israel and YES to Palestine!
The Facts Are Clear:
- The US has helped Israel murder more than 42,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children.
- The International Court of Justice says it is plausible that Israel is committing GENOCIDE.
- U.S. laws prohibit sending weapons to countries blocking humanitarian aid.
- The International Criminal Court has called for arrest warrants for Israel’s prime minister for war crimes.
- The United Nations voted 124-14 for countries to stop selling weapons to Israel.

This November, Urbana voters will be able to vote on the following non-binding ballot measure:
“Shall the United States Federal Government and subordinate divisions stop giving military funding to Israel, which currently costs taxpayers 3.8 billion dollars a year, given Israel’s global recognition as an apartheid regime with a track record of human rights violations?”
This might be the only ballot measure in the country that gives working people the right to vote to stop funding genocide. While this ballot measure alone won’t change federal policy, it will send an incredibly powerful message to local politicians, the University, and communities all across the country.
